News & Events

Having a family portrait or business photo?  Here are some things to remember.

1)  White and Black are usually not the best color to wear.  Choose bright solid colors and avoid patterns/designs.  Keep it simple and bright.  If possible wear something that compliments your eyes.

2)  Yes, post-preduction work can be done.  It is always best to go into the photo looking your best.  If you need to cover the gray or pluck the eyebrows do it 3-5 days before the photo.  Don't rely on post-preduction - the costs will increase quickly.

3)  Think about what you want the shot to look like.  The photographer will have ideas.  But, you know your family - do you want it fun, serious, formal.......

4)  Pick a location that allows for 2 -3 different location shots.

5)  Bring a change of clothes if you aren't sure.  If the shoot is outside make sure you dress allowing for ease of change in a public area.

6)  Time of day - shots are beautiful outside sunrise, sunset.  Work around optimum timing for naps.  Make sure the kids aren't hungry.  Bring snacks and water in case it takes longer than expected.  (Make sure the snacks are NOT sticky or chocolate - unless your going for the "messy" look)

7)  Choose a photographer you like and one that understands you goals.

GOING GREEN

So, you’ve made changes in your company:  reducing waste, recycling, investigating and learning what steps can be taken to make a change.  The choice of promotional products can also be driven by that desire to lessen the impact on the environment.  The promotional product industry has been addressing issues of being Green and offers options at all price levels.

Here are just some of the terms you’ll encounter:

·         Recycled – made from reprocessing old material

·         Recyclable – can be reprocessed

·         Energy Efficient – reduced or non-use of electrical power

·         Environmentally Friendly – easily biodegradable or positively impact environment

·         Reusable – using over and over lowers the quantity of raw materials needed to produce new products.

·         Organic – natural materials with limited processing

·         Animal Friendly – “cruelty free”, not tested on animals

·         PET AND RPET - Polyethylene terephthalate, a member of the polyester family. PET bottle are molded.  Polyester is a fiber.  An R or r in front of PET stands for recycled.  Look for the number 1 on the bottom of bottles.

Shirts and jackets are being made out of Bamboo, Hemp, organic cotton and RPET (water bottles) fibers.  Bags and Totes are being manufactured from Jute (vegetable fiber), PET AND RPET and organic cotton to name a few.  Pens and Pencils are made from paper and recycled materials and plates are being made from bamboo (fastest growing plant on the earth, renewable) as well as recycled products.

For the kids there are crayons made of soybean oil (a renewable raw material) and recycled packaging, grow kits and bookmarks that are made from recyclable material and also provide seeds for planting, recycled flying discs, toys and much more.

Ever considered Seed Cards?  Part of the card can be planted to grow flowers, herbs or trees.

Do you send out catalogs every year?  Use a USB Drive instead.  Send out a USB large enough for your customers to store other files and your catalog will be at their fingertips 24/7.

Consider from where the product is shipped.  Going green is all encompassing and how far the product travels is also a variable.
